Portable Generators vary widely in size and price. Entry-level models, starting around $450, are suited for powering a single appliance, while larger units can supply power to most of a home. This enables you to run essential appliances like refrigerators and laptops for 8 to 25 hours on just 2 to 3 gallons of gas.

Whole-House Generators are designed to power an entire home automatically during an outage. These units, which cost between $2,000 and $7,000, offer up to 20,000 watts of power and are fueled by natural gas or propane. They are permanently installed next to the house and provide seamless, uninterrupted power without frequent refueling. However, they require complex installation which can significantly increase the overall cost.

Choosing the right generator involves balancing your power needs with your budget and installation considerations.

Here’s What I Think Is Worth Reading:

• The Near Northside is getting a large scale commercial development near White Oak Music Hall. That neighborhood continues to transform and will see a lot of growth in the next real estate run, much to the benefit of the FIG clients who bought houses over there!
• A 70 acre walkable development is going in at the old Halliburton site in Westchase. I think we’ll see a lot more of this! Houston has a number of large sites around town that need to be redeveloped to help revitalize those areas.
• The Houston-Dallas high speed train project was kept alive by a partnership with Amtrak. Now Texas lawmakers are using eminent domain to help with the project. While I feel for the landowners, they will get compensated and I think this mass transit development is very important for the long term development of Texas. 
• Four hotels in the Greater Houston Area earned a spot on the Michelin list!
• Check out this article about carbon absorbing paint used in murals around town. Not only is it non-toxic, but each mural can absorb the same amount of paint as over 30 trees!

And last but not least…
 

Broker Michael Flint – Michael recently returned from his annual dove hunting trip in Falfurrias, TX, joined by FIG clients, friends, and family. Despite the hot weather, they brought home plenty of birds and over the years, have perfected the preparation of a gourmet meal cooked right in the parking lot of the SureStay hotel. This trip is always a highlight of the season!

Haley Reim – Congratulations to Haley for winning our Margarita Madness ticket giveaway! Haley scored tickets to the Astros game and watched them dominate the Los Angeles Angels with a 10-4 win. The Astros have turned their season around. They’ve won the AL West title and are playing in the Wild Card series. We’re so happy to have you as part of the FIG family, Haley!
