Here’s What I Think Is Worth Reading:

• As you are probably aware, the I45 expansion project has begun construction. I fear traffic is going to get a lot worse before it gets better. Scheduled to be completed by 2030, let’s all cross our fingers….
  • Just a heads up, beginning November 7th I10 East connector to I45 will be shut down as well as I45 South connections to I10.
  • What’s crazy is TxDOT has spent nearly $1B on acquiring land alone to make this project possible.
• There is a lot of development going on in Houston! While some would say the country is in a recession, Houston is not slowing down.
  • St. John’s announced a $69 million expansion plan.
  • Eli Lilly has announced a $6.5B manufacturing facility near Lake Houston.
  • Emancipation Park is getting $18.5 million from the Kinder Foundation to expand and build a new stage.
  • One Safe Place, a Houston women’s center, just opened its first phase and announced plans for its second phase.
  • Sugar Land is putting $15.54M towards expanding its trail system in an aim to make that community more walkable.
• And speaking of development, Buc-ee’s is breaking ground on three new locations in two new states. I’ll admit I’m a grumpy old man and don’t quite get the phenomenon but I have to give them credit for a hell of a run as a gas station.
• PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, GO VOTE NOVEMBER 4TH! You can find a sample of your ballot here.

And last but not least…

FIG Family member and client Curt Brooks was recently named the recipient of the 2026 Simmons Summer Sabbatical. With his 27 years of dedicated service to the Kinkaid School, Coach Brooks has been an impactful difference maker for generations of Kinkaidians. Congratulations, Coach Brooks, on this honor!

FIG employees Michael, Sarah, and Ellen got together with their families to celebrate Halloween in the Heights! The neighborhood was full of creative costumes, smiling faces, and plenty of candy. It’s always special when the FIG family comes together outside of work – especially for a night of fun and community spirit!
