Is Your Home Tech Hurricane Ready?

With hurricane season officially underway (June – Nov), it’s not just your pantry that needs to be prepared, your home technology does too. Experts are encouraging Southeast Texas residents to take a few simple steps now to protect their equipment and stay connected if severe weather strikes.

Here are a few tech tips to help weather the storm:

  • Plug into protection. Use surge protectors for TVs, modems, and cable boxes to guard against lightning strikes and power surges.

  • Lift it up. Move electronics off the floor to help protect them from potential flooding.

  • Power up. Consider a battery backup (UPS) for your modem and router to keep you online during short outages.

  • Check your plan. Make sure your mobile data plan allows you to use your phone as a hotspot if necessary.

  • Stay informed. Sign up for text alerts from your service providers to receive real-time updates about outages.

Houston knows the strength – and the stress – of hurricane season. That’s why FIG Real Estate is here to help. We have supply checklists, advice on choosing the right generator, and a trusted list of contractors to help you prepare ahead of time or make repairs after the storm.

Congratulations to our client Diego Onuchic
on completing his very first Ironman triathlon,
Ironman Texas in The Woodlands! With an
incredible time of 10 hours and 36 minutes,
he has earned himself a spot in the World Championships. What an amazing 2025 –
first home and first Ironman. Way to go Diego!

Congratulations to Kyle Bautsch and Trent Wagner on the arrival of their beautiful baby boy, Micah! Back in October 2024, with baby on the way, they made the move to Garden Oaks – into a larger home with a spacious yard and a spot in a great school district. Micah was born on June 27th, weighing 7 pounds, 7 ounces, and the whole family has been happily settling into their new normal. Welcome to the world, Micah!
