January 2024 - The FIG Files - Houston Heights Realtor

DISCLAIMER: Over the past year, the term “interest rate” has become a dangerous topic to discuss, leaving anger, fear and despair in its wake. For your safety and ours, we will herein refer to interest rates as the “X Factor”.

The myths surrounding the X Factor originally began in the news and other media, and were then exaggerated by word of mouth, as all good myths are. Reality however, is quite different.

To dispel the myths, we share the adventures of Agent Flint (the believer), and Agent Hightower (the skeptic). As they broker real estate and investigate the strange and unexplained rumors about the X Factor, hidden forces work to impede their efforts. But don’t despair… The Truth Is Out There.

Don’t Fall For Clickbait

Here’s What I Think Is Worth Reading:

TxDOT is moving forward with elevating I-10 south of the Heights and connecting it to I-45. They recently announced that they are tweaking their plans.
Save White Oak Bayou is an organization trying to keep TxDOT in check as they push forward with the I-10 and I-45 projects. Check out their website and please get involved!
MacGregor Park is getting a $54 million park renovation. There will be a new tennis center, baseball field, swimming pool, amphitheater and 1.25 miles of hike and bike trails added to connect the park to Bayou Greenway Trails.
Did you know Harris County has a beach? Me neither. Sylvan Beach in La Porte is set to get a $30 million make over. The changes include an amphitheater for concerts, a water spray plaza, an event pier and boardwalk, and more!
They’re at it again. Kodiak Robotics will send driverless trucks between Houston and Dallas this year. I’m all for it if it can make the roads safer. Although predicting what other Texan drivers will do is a tall task.
As you know, all of us at FIG are huge baseball nerds (well, really it’s just me). And t he Houston Astros put in a bid to host the World Baseball Classic !!! Dubbed the Olympics of baseball, it’s an amazing tournament that puts together teams and games that otherwise would not happen. I am more passionate about this than any other major sporting event in America.
And sports fans, looks like Dallas will host the 2026 World Cup Final… I’m all about it!

And last but not least…

FIG Family Updates

As we mentioned, you’re one of us now. And we love to celebrate all the good news and events that are happening in the lives of the extended FIG Family! Please email info@figtx.com and let us know what’s going on with you!

Christmas Village – FIG volunteered last month at Bayou Bend Collection and Gardens! In addition to the beautiful grounds and stunning Christmas lights, everyone enjoyed snowball fights and sledding (yes, they made it happen in Houston!!), photos with Santa, scavenger hunts, and more. Make sure to put it on your calendar next holiday season!

Free Pie Give Away – Once again FIG got to say a big THANK YOU by offering a free pie to our amazing clients! We wanted to celebrate the holidays, express our appreciation for another wonderful year, and see some familiar faces. John West is one of our dear clients that made the journey to FIG world headquarters to visit and grab a pecan pie!
