FIG loves Houston and its surrounding areas. So we try to do what we can to make it a better place to live and work. Each month we participate in a different volunteer opportunity and would love for you to JOIN US! On March 12th, FIG will head to Galveston Island for NestFest 2024 to help with coastal clean up. We will be preparing the beach for the upcoming nesting seasons for both beach-nesting birds and sea turtles. Join us, work on your tan, and get a free FIG t-shirt!
Last month FIG employee Ellen was at the SPCA’s Wildlife Center of Texas, as baby season is well and truly upon us and the Center is receiving several orphaned babies every day. Ellen was trained on how to feed baby squirrels, but there are orphaned opossums, rabbits, birds, and even more wildlife looking for their next meal. If you want to help nurture orphaned babies back to health, consider becoming a Wildlife Volunteer. You will be rehabilitating wildlife for their eventual release into their natural habitat!
If you would like to join us and get a free t-shirt, or if you have any volunteer ideas you think we should sign up for, please let us know! Contact us at info@figtx.com

Here’s What I Think Is Worth Reading:
The 2026 World Cup will be here before you know it! You can register for your interest in tickets here. Do it and if you win, but don’t want to go, you could share with your favorite real estate broker.
Say it ain’t so! Apparently this will not be our best crawfish season. This just might be the kick in the pants Texans need to get serious about climate change. But seriously, has anyone had some yet? I have not, please share your experience and I will report back on mine.
Despite the headlines, Houston sales are up compared to last year and home prices continue to rise. That being said, the past twelve months have been an incredible buying time in Houston that won’t last much longer. So if you’re on the fence, this is your sign to act! Call us to discuss this amazing opportunity.
The Fifth Ward is in a tough spot. It’s a beautiful neighborhood with a rich history but it is also the location of a cancer cluster caused by an old creosote facility. It has recently be declared a super fund site, meaning it will get Federal money to help clean it up. But the City of Houston green-lighted hundreds of residential projects in the area and an unexpecting buyer is going to spend their money to be put in a dangerous situation. Thankfully the City has halted development. Buyer beware, it pays to have a good agent!
There is a pretty cool new building downtown by Skanska. Dubbed The Most Sustainable Building In Houston, hopefully signifies a new trend in more sustainable construction.
