…or possibly a plumber, landscaper, or cleaning crew and don’t know who to call? Anyone can advertise their services but how do you know who to trust?

Over the years, FIG Real Estate has vetted contractors and can recommend people that we know will do an excellent job. Our contractors are actually trained professionals, unlike the models who showed up to the photo shoot!

Not only do we have people to help you maintain your home, but we also have professionals to help you prepare for the sale of your home. Minor repairs, a fresh coat of paint, staging, landscaping and taking great pictures are all things FIG’s contractors can do to get your home show-ready.

Here’s What I Think Is Worth Reading:

• I love articles like this: Record Number of Americans Say It’s a Bad Time to Buy. You know what that means, right?! It’s the best time to buy! Especially in Houston. We are currently experiencing a buyer’s market where you can negotiate with Sellers and don’t have to compete with multiple offers. Nice!
• One of the biggest culprits of the housing crisis are developers who do these build-to-rent communities. They dress it up like they’re doing renters a favor but really, all they are doing is further shortening supply and making homes prices go up even more (which is exactly what they want). In this case, instead of 284 homes hitting the market, now there is less land and opportunity to build homes for buyers…
• The Dallas-Houston high speed train has gained momentum from a new partnership with Amtrak. 90 minutes one way and no fighting traffic on I-45? Yes please.
• Next year a clean energy generating art piece will be installed in East End’s Guadalupe Plaza Park in Second Ward. It will generate approximately 400,000 kw hrs of electricity per year, tell time, act as a sundial and change colors throughout the day!
• More trees! Hats off to the non-profit Houston Wilderness for planting ‘super trees’ along Houston Ship Channel. Plus,
• Synthica Energy is building a plant along the Ship Channel that will take in 300,000 tons of organic waste per year from food and beverage producers to refine into natural gas.
• Texas A&M is constructing a $200 million space institute at NASA’s Johnson Space Center to help ensure that Texas remains a leader in space exploration. Whoop! (or something like that, my in-laws are Aggies)
• It is very sad to report that Tony Mandola has passed away. He and his family have left an indelible mark on the Houston restaurant scene.
